John Boyne (Ierland, 1971) is schrijver en journalist. Zijn roman De jongen in de gestreepte pyjama werd wereldwijd een bestseller, won diverse literaire prijzen en werd succesvol verfilmd. Daarna schreef hij onder meer De grote stilte, Wat het hart verwoest en Toen de wereld brak.
